The OCC says it denied Bunq's application over "significant supervisory and compliance concerns". The company failed to clearly explain how its US operations would be capitalised, while the regulator also raised concerns about its experience with unsecured credit cards. The company says it will address the OCC's concerns and continue to operate in the US. Bunq applied for the license earlier this year having withdrawn an earlier application in 2024.
